The Fulton Lions Club recently made a contribution to Guiding Eyes For The Blind (GEB).

Joy Hawksby, regional GEB representative, and her dog, Zak, accept the contribution from Fulton Lions Club President David Guyer.

Hawksby and her GEB colleagues work to help potential guide dog puppies develop into well-adjusted, mannerly young adults. GEB is dedicated to enriching the lives of blind and visually impaired men and women by providing them with the trained guide dog companions that allow them to travel safely and assure greater independence, dignity, and new opportunities.

Newly inducted members and their sponsors receive recognition at the recent joint Fulton-Oswego Lions Club meeting with guest, Lions 20-Y-1 District Governor Dr. Kerry Brown. From left: new Oswego Lion Mike Henderson; new Oswego Lion Paul Warren, Oswego President Bob Bateman, Dist Gov. Kerry Brown; Fulton President David Guyer, new Fulton Lion Sean Green, new Fulton Lion Theresa Stephens and her sponsor and husband, Fulton Lion Robert Stephens. Oswego Lions President received the organization’s Melvin Jones Fellowship Award that evening from Oswego Lions Past President Karen Hammond. A Melvin Jones Fellowship is the highest honor that Lions International can bestow, Hammond said. This award recognizes a person’s commitment to humanitarian service.
